    Venice Beach's street performers

Shot using the Canon 7D and the Technicolor CineStyle Picture Profile, this short film contains live recorded music of Nathan the 'Piano Man' and Harry Perry of Venice Beach, LA.

The sounds was recorded using the Rode Videomic, although I am now looking into a Zoom H4n to complement my kit collection.

    Other kit used:

    Zacuto Z-finder
    Tokina 11-16

All show handheld and on a very busy and sunny Sunday with lots of jostling for position with the camera at times...

All editing and grading was done in Avid Media Composer 5.5.1. Import of the Technicolor LUT os not supported in MC yet (although it is in Avid DS), and I did not want to use 3rd party products on this occasion, so I purely used the colour correction tools in Media Composer, making primary use of the Y waveform and RGB parade, and of course my eyes.

A simple 'S-curve' was used in the master curve and I've boosted the blues slightly in the highlights and increased saturation to around 114% on most of the shots.

When I have a little more time, I will upload some before and after shots of the CineStyle picture profile, which actually brings the Canon very close to the range of the R3D ONE, amazing!
