The Grizzly Bears of the Katmai Penninsula

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     'The areas we visited were remote, rarely visited by people. The areas are pristine, the bears, bald eagles and other creatures are abundant,' said konacraig. 'The more I travel the world, the more I realize we need to protect the environment for animals to survive.'
    - rachel8, CNN iReport producer

Imaging waking up at 5am, getting dressed, eating breakfast  and boarding your zodiac at 6am.   The weather is cold and you are in the middle of nowhere.   You are in Geographic Harbor on the Katmai Penninsula in Alaska.   You are in search of grizzly bears.   Within minutes you find a grizzly digging for clams on a beach at low tide.   Another grizzly is swimming in the water near your zodiac.   Another grizzly mother is with her cub  on the beach and another grizzly is trying to catch a salmon in a nearby stream.   Over 3 hours we encountered at least 40 grizzly bears.   They were ambivalent to our existence.   We watch, observed then boarded our expedition ship, the MV Clipper Odyssey, to continue our journey down the Alaskan Penninsula.
