Do you remember the Cold War?

    More from suskiru

    I remember the daily fear

I remember going to school and doing duck and cover drills.  It didn't hit me when I was younger that this would not do anything to help us and finally realized that at any time our world come come to an abrupt end and we could be blown to bits.   I remember being scared to death daily that the Russians would nuke us into oblivion.  I could not sleep, and I had horrible dreams of death and destruction.  I remember the dog-tags that  children were given so that in the case of nuclear attack, their little charred bodies would be identifiable. This was a horrible way to grow up let me tell you who weren't around then you should be glad!!!  It was hard to be a normal happy child when the thought of the "BOMB" was always right in the fringes of your thoughts all day every day!

It is a shame that Russias new president Dmetry or whatever his name is and Putin are clearly missing the cold war days and were happiest when they put fear into the hearts of the world.  They are sick puppies and we all should be seriously concerned for the safety of this world as we know it while they are still in power.  They will do anything whether the UN and the world likes it or not to get back to those days. They will not allow true freedom to Georgia or any other breakaway provinces.  I pray to god they do not succeed.
