South Sioux City, Nebraska readies for flood

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Usedcam is the managing editor of the Dakota County Star newspaper. The people in the area are very nervous and are trying to save as much of their property as they can before the floodwaters reach their homes. "There are people in the flood inundation areas who are literally ripping the carpet out or taking out cabinets," he said. He said half of the town's 12,000 residents are trying to move everything and the other half are clearing out their basements because they expect groundwaters to rise.
    - davidw, CNN iReport producer

The people of South Sioux City, Nebraska prepare for a coming flood on June 1, 2011. The U.S. Corps of Engineers estimates about half of the city of 12,000 people will be under water by June 14 as the Missouri River rises. The Corps expect the flood to last about 60 days.
