This iReport is part of an assignment:
Your best or worst summer jobs |
Summer of bugs and heat
Being from the deep south, there are plenty of jobs for high school students willing to work long summer days for minimum wage. I got a summer job before I entered college assisting the local college crop research and pest control laboratory department. Duties included carrying jugs of antifreeze in the middle of corn fields and collecting the bugs that were caught a week later. We also had to help plant sweet potatoes and do sweeps for insect eggs and worms. Many times I had black widow spiders jump on me that were hiding under the antifreeze jugs. In addition to the heat of the deep south (approaching 100 degrees with hummidity) the truck I was driving to the field did not have AC. It takes a job like that to make you aprreciate the value of a good job!
