Pensacola, FL – This week, Drs. Christian and Robin Harfouche, founders of Christian Harfouche Ministries Global Reach (CHMGR) delivered approximately 50,000 pounds of critical medical supplies to Beirut, Lebanon.

This shipment, consisting of syringes, blood testing kits, I.V. starter kits, and other essential hospital supplies, was initially set to leave the States later in the summer. However, due to the possible destabilization of the surrounding nations, the decision was made to expedite the shipment.  Acquiring the first vessel they could locate, CHMGR rushed these medical supplies to the region. The Harfouche's also personally traveled to the nation of Lebanon, where they met with the President of the Lebanese branch of Caritas—the world’s largest humanitarian organization, operating in over 200 countries.

While they were in Lebanon making preparations for the incoming shipment, reports began to come in concerning a massive influx of refugees (many wounded) crossing the border from Syria, fleeing unrest and seeking medical attention. Realizing that there was not enough medical supplies to meet the need, humanitarian organizations within Lebanon issued a plea for help.

Thankfully, the shipment of medical supplies sent by CHMGR was already en route, arriving at the port of Lebanon on June 6, 2011—and is now awaiting distribution to hospitals across the country.

Christian Harfouche and CHMGR stated that it was certainly the right decision to send the medical supplies when they did, and that they were happy to see them arrive in time to aid the country during this critical hour.

CHMGR has delivered medical aid to needy nations throughout the world. In the last several years alone, the organization has supplied medical aid to Haiti, and established a medical clinic in Kibera, Kenya—one of the world’s largest slums.
