Cultural census: Get around
Trans-feet to Translink...
Ever since I moved to Vancouver, BC a year ago walking has been my number one mode of getting around, thereby making my sneakers my No.1 mode of "transportation". Since the weather is absolutely beautiful out here, not only do I not mind walking to places, but leisure walking has actually become one of my favorite past times.
But if I'm not walking, I'm commuting - riding the bus, and my favorite, using the skytrain. The Canada Line has been a blessing as it makes getting as far as Downtown (from Richmond) a piece of cake; always on schedule and no traffic to deal with.Translink has a fantastic network of buses and skytrains covering most (if not all) of Metro Vancouver. They're so great that I have never minded not having my own vehicle.
So not only has walking & using public transportation for the most part help me save money on car costs, maintenance and gas, it also inadvertently helps me contribute to saving the environment! Two birds with one stone; now who wouldn't love that?
