Growing up with 'Harry Potter' |
It's Real For Us
When I was 7 or 8, I met Madeline through soccer. We weren't best friends or anything, but we were friends. Our families started going out to dinner, and we slowly became closer. I remember a year of so later when we were in third grade, we were hanging out in her room (I was all ready obsessed with Harry Potter) and I asked her if she'd ever heard of Harry Potter. She said yes, she'd seen a couple of the movies. Somehow I got her to read the books and she began to love it, too.
We became so close so quickly - all because off Harry Potter. One year we went as Hermione and Ginny for Halloween. We've seen all of the movies from Order of the Phoenix up until Part One together, dressing up for some. For Part One we plopped down in line with books to wait. We're not going to Part Two unless we're together.
We're best friends now, closer than sisters. Her "alter ego" is Hermione, and mine is Ginny. :-) Watching the last trailer for Harry Potter (EVER!) a couple days ago, I think that we both realized that Harry Potter was... ending (Wait, WHAT?!). Even so, we'll never quit talking about it...or hoping for another book. Or movie. Whichever. :-)
Thank You, J.K. Rowling. Because of you, I have the best friend a girl could ask for.
“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”
