One of the few happy stories....
I was living in Florida, working for a financial company, on 9/11. Our trading floor had tv's - so I was seeing it as it happened. I have to say, it didn't affect me on the day - but it definitely changed my life. You see - my future husband (whom I hadn't met at that point) was on the 55th floor of Tower 2. He managed to make it out of the building but knew many who perished. Over the next several weeks, he suffered greatly w/ PTSD. A friend of his was coming to Florida for my firm's Columbus Day weekend retreat. He invited my future husband to join him.
I met him on the eve of October 6th, 2001. We spent the next day together and at the end of his trip - he promised he'd come back. Over the next 10 months he would come to Florida every 2 weeks to visit. In August of 2002 - he convinced me to come to NYC and look for a job. On the day of my interview w/ a Wall St firm - he proposed. I said yes and moved up 3 weeks later.
We were married in 2003, and, as you can see, we now have a beautiful little boy.
Many lives were lost that day - but, unbeknownst to me, my life began on that day. I thank God everyday for my family. I truly am one of the lucky ones...
