    I try to take my bike around as much as possible, but despite the fact that we have a great group of people who turn out for critical mass  every week, Baton Rouge is a pretty dangerous place for self-powered transportation. in 2009 there were 12 fatalaties and about 600 injuries.  A friend of mine and fellow graduate student, Mike Bitton, was hit last year and nearly died.  The city has been trying to make more bike lanes and more awareness, but nothing really moves that quickly in Louisiana.  Except cars.
