The People are speaking out against Netflix!
The people are revolting and doing an on-line protest towards Netflix's new pricing policy. What was once an affordable monthly service is now raising thier prices from 7.99 to two different plans totalling in 15.98 before taxes. From Netflix Blogs they state "Last November when we launched our $7.99 unlimited streaming plan, DVDs by mail was treated as a $2 add on to our unlimited streaming plan. At the time, we didn’t anticipate offering DVD only plans. Since then we have realized that there is still a very large continuing demand for DVDs both from our existing members as well as non-members. Given the long life we think DVDs by mail will have, treating DVDs as a $2 add on to our unlimited streaming plan neither makes great financial sense nor satisfies people who just want DVDs. Creating an unlimited DVDs by mail plan (no streaming) at our lowest price ever, $7.99, does make sense and will ensure a long life for our DVDs by mail offering. Reflecting our confidence that DVDs by mail is a long-term business for us, we are also establishing a separate and distinct management team solely focused on DVDs by mail, led by Andy Rendich, our Chief Service and Operations Officer and an 11 year veteran of Netflix"
Thier only par Streaming video collection is out dated and out par against such companies as Hulu or Amazon Prime. What has most customer upset at this is that less than six months ago Netflix raised thier prices. So in under a year's time it has risen to over 62% increase. Hundreads of customers have fled to thier facebook page and have commented on thier site at this desicion and posted a lot of angry comments at this. However instead of commenting back or trying to resolve matters Netflix started to delete comments made by people. Which in turn is only making thier customers even more upset. The link to thier facebook page is at http://www.facebook.com/#!/netflix/posts/10150234431168870
(I do warn that if you start to read the comments there is a lot of crude launge). As I started to follow the trend as early as yesterday night, I have counted hundreds already stating that they have canceled their account with netflix and going to use other means of renting videos such as Hulu, Redbox, Amazon Prime, ect. Many claim that this will cause the fall of Netflix, will it be? I don't know but this is obviously a horrible desicion to make at a time like this when in a horrible economy that the middle class is quickly fading away.
