    The Beginning of Carmageddon

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     DanielGross took this picture early this morning of the moment 'Carmaggedon' started in Los Angeles -- the demolition of the Mulholland Drive bridge. 'The sparks in the picture are from a torch that they were using to cut through the metal beams inside the bridge,' he said. 'As they were cutting the beams, smaller jackhammer type machines were beginning to crack away at the bridge, small pieces of cement were falling. In the bottom of the picture you can see the dirt that they are putting across the freeway to protect the freeway from the falling debris.'

    I went on a hike around the construction site and got this awesome picture of the beginning of the construction on the bridge.
