This iReport is part of an assignment:
Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones dies |
Down-to-Earth Trailblazer
During the summer of 2000, I had the distinct honor of serving as an intern in Tubbs-Jones' Capitol Hill office. Ms. Tubbs-Jones was a ball of energy and I admired her integrity and down-to-earth character. It was a blessing to be in the presence of such an amazing woman who served as a trailblazer among the African American community and America. As an African American woman, she was a model of a powerful yet modest leader. On a regular basis, you could find her mingling around Cleveland at community events such as the Ohio Football Classic. Such a sweet spirit who will be missed. The legacy and work of Tubbs-Jones must continue in Cleveland, Congress and beyond!
