My wife and I were in Washington D.C. about a month ago with our three children. After a tour of the Capitol Building we were walking back to the Metro station to catch the train to our hotel. A very nice woman overheard us talking about what a great tour we just had and she asked us where we are from. We told her we are from Arizona and she introduced herself as Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Congresswoman from Cleveland, OH. She told us that her cousin is Jerryd Bayless, who went to high school here in Phoenix, then starred at U of A , and is now a member of the Portland Trailblazers. Being camera happy tourists in D.C. we asked her if she would take a picture with us and she happily obliged us. She even went into her office building to get some coloring books of the Capitol for our kids. She gave us some of her business cards which now reside in the photo album recounting our trip.

My family and I are sad to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. In a span of about five minutes, we saw what a wonderful person she was.
