    Quiet Oslo Night, Shattered Glass

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     darkpilotnyc shot these pictures of Oslo yesterday evening, as the police cordons began to roll back and allow civilians access to areas closer to the blast zone. He recalls how stunned Norwegians he talked to were by the day's events: 'It's hard to believe that one of your own would want to hurt others among you. It's such a small country that's traditionally been insulated from this kind of violence.'

    Walking around the Oslo blast zone in the midnight hours, I was stunned by the sheer amount of shattered glass, even at a significant distance from the bombing site. Crews worked to clear away piles of glass and secure windows, while the normally thriving pedestrain streets and plazas of central Oslo were eerily quiet. Normally hopping outdoor seating areas were deserted and nightclubs silent. There was an unusual police presence, such as around the Parliament building, but the feeling was not one of danger but of the first steps of healing.
