    Hawk Checking Out the Pool

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Gene5335 had just returned from the store with his family when he saw something in the backyard near the pool. 'When I got a clear view, I realized it was a hawk trying to get a drink and cool itself off,' Gene5335 said. This was the first hawk Gene5335 had seen near the pool, but he said his family keeps a kick board in the pool so animals that fall in can swim safely to the floatation device. 'The kick board gives them a stable platform to jump from or stand on, so as to keep them alive long enough for one of us to scoop them out with the leaf net,' Gene5335 said. 'It seems to work. I've seen one of the pool side chipmunks fall in, swim over to the kick board, and then hop right out of the pool and dry off.'

With the high heat and humidity, even the local wildlife is trying to find ways to cool off.
