    MTV turns 30!

    On  August 1st 2011, MTV will celebrate its 30th anniversary.
                      ......................Wow!..............................
    It seems  like yesterday when this new Music TeleVision channel just began.

     

    It started the Summer of 1981 when this new tv channel played nothing but music videos all day long, non-stop. It was brilliant!

     

    I remember the debut included the Apollo 11 space ship lifting into orbit & then the countdown.The VJ (video jockey) came on to introduce us to this new format of music  that would change music & the music business forever.

     

    I was in love!

     

    Those were the best days. I even had the station hooked up to my stereo. I was exposed to music on MTV, not radio anymore.

    I'd see a video on MTV, buy that album & hope to hear it on the radio!

     

    The MTV original music was...

    Duran  Duran, the Buggles, Pat Benatar, Aha, Nena, John Cougar, Madonna, Men  at Work, Blondie, Split Enz, Dire Straits, Adam Ant, Romeo Void, Bow Wow Wow,  Billy Idol, The Vapors, Phil Collins, The Pretenders, J. Geils Band,  Bananarama, General Public, Sinead O'Connor, UB40, Ziggy Marley, Kate  Bush, Stray Cats, DEVO, B-52s... I could go on....!

     

    But I don't watch MTV anymore. Quite frankly, it's no longer worthy of it's iconic name. Reality shows Like Teen Moms, The Jersey Shore, Death Valley, I used to be Fat & Teen Wolf have ruined MTV.

     

    There  is no music left on this once groundbreaking & extraordinary channel. You have sold out to  the mindless masses.WHY? America loved you 30 years ago & we miss  you now!

     

    I want my MTV, BACK!!!
