Statement by Web Portal Gruzia Online

In addition to the military aggression Russia continues DDoS attacks against Georgian online editions. For a few days now an increasing cyber attack is being carried out against the web portal Gruzia Online (http://www.apsny.ge/), having been hacked before as well. Formerly the attacks were of total character, against all web editions covering the developments in Georgia, nowadays the attacks are being carried out selectively. The resources being on demand on the Internet are being targeted. Gruzia Online seems to be the top target for the Russian special services being ordered to destroy it instantly. On the afternoon of August 22 the web site was still inaccessible for the users. We would like to remind you that in the first week of August a number of websites were hacked, such as the Georgian President's and other governmental agencies', as well as independent web editions, including Gruzia Online. Following the DDoS attack the web site resumed functioning but nowadays a new mass DDoS attack is being prepared to destroy the resource which, despite the Kremlin's agitation, is striving to provide its users with truthful information from the hot spots. In addition we would like to once again inform you that a special department has been set up at the Russian special services being in charge of the Internet patrol. For instance, the mailboxes with the ru domain are thoroughly controlled by the Russian special services. Moreover, the aforementioned department is assigned to destroy unfavorable Internet resources by hired hackers. Gruzia Online would like to apologize its users for the inconvenience.
