    California's beautiful Morro Rock

    This summer, like every summer since I was a teenager, my family and I spent the first week of August camping in Morro Bay, California. I took this photo on my birthday on a kayaking excursion with my sister and mother. We kayaked from the Embarcadero across the harbor to the sand bar that protects the bay. Much of the sand bar is protected for wildlife so I was able to take this picture of Morro Rock with some beautiful undisturbed sand dunes in the foreground. With temperatures in the 60s and 70s Morro Bay has always been a great escape from the Central Valley heat - not to mention its natural beauty.
