Beijing 2008: Your story[1] |
Bridget Sloan Welcomed Home by Community
This afternoon we attended the gathering for the welcoming home Bridget Sloan at Tri-West High School. This followed a parade through her home town of Pittsboro. Although Bridget didn't seem to know what to do with all of the attention for the crowd, she had such genuine smiles for everyone, and time for all the kids to get signatures and pictures.
We got to hear from Bridget's coach and the head of US Gymnastics! But it was even better to get to hear from Bridget's parents. They are such genuinely nice people, and you could really feel their appreciation for everyone that had shown up for their daughter.
How amazing to live 15 minutes from an Olympian! My kids, who started gymnastics this summer, really look up to this small town girl who was able to accomplish so much, and will remember meeting her for the rest of their lives!
