Hundreds of travelers waiting for last ferry out on Sunday

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Photographer Andy Plesser has a house in Vieques and told me he "got out in the nick of time," just before Irene swept over Puerto Rico. He took this photo as he got on the last ferry.

Vieques, PR -- Sunday, August 21 at 11 a.m. local time.

Hundreds of anxious residents and tourists wait in line for hours for the last ferry out of Vieques for Fajardo on the main island.  Most small airlines connected the little island, were cancelled flights on Sunday.

The photo is by Andy Plesser, resident of New York and Vieques, who runs a New York based video journalism site Beet.TV.  He left on the last ferry on Sunday, schedule to depart at 11, it left at 1 and crossed in choppy seas. He then reached San Juan Intl. for one of  the last flights on Sunday night
