    Trapped in an elevator with my daughter

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     omekongo told me he had no idea there had been an earthquake until someone told him, and even then, he thought it was a joke at first.

    It was truly a crazy experience as my 5-year old daughter and I got caught on an elevator right as the earthquake started. It started shaking incessantly and the doors were opening and closing and then finally got stuck. Minutes later I started pressing down and it went down. We rushed out the elevator to find everyone evacuating Georgetown Hospital where we were. The videos here are of the area where I was trying to go get my 3-year old daughter (celebrating her bithday today) and of me returning to my office at home, where I found that my iReport Spirit Award had been knocked down!!! Not cool! In all seriousness though, it really puts things in perspective. I hope no one died or was seriously hurt.
