This iReport is part of an assignment:
Are you better off? |
I am far better off than I was a decade ago
LIfe is far better for me. The key for me has been to remain marketable and competitive. I have had four career changes since the late 60s, and each change has resulted in a more rewarding career that typically has paid better than the previous.
This means not sitting in the Archie Bunker chair after work, but attending evening classes for the upgrading of skills via adult learning centers, attending career seminars, and keeping in touch with the market trends.
In short, "get off your duff" and huff it... Make yourself marketable with the CURRENT trends and keep an eye open on the future.
Retirement is coming for me very soon, but I think I have rolled with the punches quite well.
