Victims of Hurricane Irene - School Children In Need!

The children of a small, rural school district devestated by the flooding from Hurricane Irene are in desperate need of help.  Many of these children evacuated their destroyed homes so quickly that they only have the clothes on their back.

The Gilboa-Conesville Central School system has been crushed by recent catastrophic flooding. The school disctrict is approximately 150 square miles and serves only about 350 students from three(3) different counties (Delaware, Greene, and Schoharie). The communities in this district include Prattsville, Gilboa, Conesville, and Blenheim. Two of these towns (Prattsville and Blenheim) have been almost totally destroyed, but Gilboa and Conesville have sustained great damage as well.  The community needs help as soon as possible.

The families in this area are struggling financially.  Even those that have not sustained damage to their homes are serving as hosts to displaced families, and they are paying for this with their own cash.

Although there are many great charaties and fundraisers in place, a local fund, REBUILD GILBOA, has been created to directly impact the children of this school district.  The fund is working with support from the Gilboa-Conesville school board and administration.  One of the first goals of the fund is to provide new shoes to every student in the school, as well as provide back to school items and clothes, especially backpacks.

There are a couple of ways to donate to "REBUILD GILBOA." Mail donations to TDBANK 125 State Street Albany Ny, 12207; call Dustin Krause at TDBANK 518-455-9912; existing TD customers can Transfer Funds; wire funds; Non TDBank customers are asked to call the Albany branch to find out how they can contribute. An Online payment site is being set up also, more information about this will follow.

100% of proceeds will go to the GILBOA-CONESVILLE School System to purchase items for its students.
