Remembering the victims of 9/11 |
My Visit to the Ground Zero Area on September 11
Yesterday, September 11, 2011 was tenth anniversary of the fall of the Twin Towers. In going to the Ground Zero area in lower Manhattan, one can not but sense the feeling that the atmosphere has definitely changed.
In visiting the Ground Zero area, I was able to witness a very heavy police presence along with soldiers armed with M-16 automatic assault rifles. The scenary was reminiscent of being under some form of occupation under a foreign power, the only exception was that these were American soldiers in the Pennsylvania Station area.
In going to the Ground Zero area, I was also able to witness several protests going on. The main protest that caught my attention was the 9/11 protesters who believe with great conviction that the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001 was a inside job orchestrated by the United States government in an attempt to create a “New World Order” in which American civil liberties would take a back seat to this super government.
I had an opportunity to speak with several of the individuals and what they had to say was very intriguing and interesting. I had the opportunity to ask why they do not believe the official story given by the United States government, and their overwhelming response was that the laws of physics did not stop working on that day. In question, was the towers, because at the rate they fell, and how they fell.
I aprehend that if all the individuals who question the veracity and official story of 9/11 were summoned to the witness stand, they would all testify that their act of not accepting the official government version of events are not due to conspiracy theories but in the simple obedience to their sense of duty as patriots of their country and in seeking out the truth. It is my opinion, that it is no offense to question our government, but rather, it is our duty as laid out by the Founding Fathers even in the wake of offending the families of those affected by this horrible tragedy.
In lieu of the admission above, I do not question the sincerity of the mass of those question the tragic events or their patriotism, for they believe to be doing what they believe is right in an effort to change the world and make it a better place.
A second item which caught my attention was all the official dignataries that were at this event, ranging from our president, to the mayor of New York City, to the affected families of 9/11. It is rather tragic that the true dignataries were not present at all, in effect, not invited and those are the volunteers, policemen, and firemen, the first responders to the collapse of the towers. The ones are who are suffering, 10 years later, from the effects of dust and smoke inhalation. It would have been a better event had they not invited the politicians and simply invited those who risked their safety for their fellow brothers and sisters in humanity. Truly, something is wrong here.
