Bashkiria (Bashkortostan) demands independence from Russia
Bashkortostan is a country located in Central Asia. For centuries, the Bashkir people have proudly fought in order to free themselves from foreign yolk. And even today, they are known to be a freedom-loving people.
The Republic of Bashkortostan - a sovereign republic was proclaimed on October 11,1990. Bashkortostan is located along the South Urals and the adjacent plains. Its territory is 143.600 square kilometers and the population is over 4 million people. The Republic numbers 20 cities, the largest being Ufa, Sterlitamak, Salavat, Neftekamsk, Oktyabrski. The capital city is Ufa. The city was established in 1574. The population is 1.1 million people. Based on the will expressed by the overwhelming majority of our multinational people during the Republican Referendums held in 1993 and 1995, the Republic is consistently working to strengthen political and economic independence of Bashkortostan.
The Bashkirs are Turkic people indigenous to Bashkortostan occupied by Russia. Groups of Bashkirs also live in the republic of Tatarstan, as well as in Perm Krai and Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Kurgan, Sverdlovsk, Samara, and Saratov Oblasts occupied by Russia.
On October 11, 1990, the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic declares its sovereignty, thus making it a free and independent state with no legal tie to Moscow and the Russian empire.
On February 25, 1992, the country is named the Republic of Bashkortostan. As you notice, it is not the "Autonomous Republic", but the republic, thus officializing its sovereignty against the Kremlin.
On March 31, 1992, Russian powerful forces corrupt Bashkir leaders and make them accept against their will the Russian power over Bashkortostan.
Public Movement "K Y Y K B RE", representing the national interests Bashkirs living on the territory of Bashkortostan and Russia, calls from the Kremlin to ensure the right of the people of the republic on self-determination.
Integrated by force to the Russian empire, Moscow has kept a policy of enslaving the Bashkir people and Russifying the centuries-old Bashkir culture, making thousands of Bashkirs leave their ancestors' land.
It is now time for Bashkortostan to regain its independence and sovereignty. Russia cannot keep enslaving the Bashkir people for ever! People, reclaim what is yours. That is: Freedom!
