Presumed to Be Drowned at the Ironman Event in Augusta GA

I am Eve, and I live part-time on a houseboat on the Augusta Riverfront Marina,1 5th Street, Augusta, GA.

As many of you know, Augusta is hosting the Ironman Event again, for the 3rd year in a row. I have one of my trusty camcorders handy hoping to catch some of the highlights of the event, perhaps see some friends, someone "famous", just something different. Well, I did, alright!  Never would  I have believed that a swimmer, perhaps from the Augusta Swim Team, not sure, though nearly, would be determined as missing and believed to be drowned.  I was chilled, stunned, in disbelief that this could be happening in what is currently, more-or-less, my back  yard. There was silence, of a sort, and a very surreal feeling all around. Yet, there were runners not far away, laughing, talking, huffing, puffing, perspiring ... as though nothing had happened. People were driving in and through the area, others sitting at the picnic table ... all the while others of us were shading our eyes to view the river insearch of a swimmers body.  I GRABBED ONE OF MYCAMCORDERS AND USED IT AS BINOCULARS, FEARING PEOPLE WOULD THINK i WAS mocking or as gawdy or morbid or callous.  I felt drawn to search for her as others ere doing...zooming in and out ..... back and forth, targeting when seeing anthing that I thought might be her. Ifeared what they might find.  There are alligators in this river.  I feared the fish, the elements, anything and everything ... the look of death upon her, knowing surely she could not have survived this long and not be located.  Time went by, seeming forever, yet was probably more like 10minutes.  AT THAT MOMENT,my boyfriend raced back to tell me she had been found .... not a lifeless body, but alive and far beyond where e were searching ...at the bridge, the 5th Street Bridge. The lady was alive, alive!  Fast forward 20 minutes ...... I believethat my life has changed in some ways ....NO, I KNOW IT HAS; all of this happened in hat was merely a long moment, yet the world continued turning, people kept moving .....and a womans life was not ended in the blink of an eye. Not many will even kno her name or how  close she came or we thought shecame ...tonot being here.I can see me being a reporter .... or ..... something else .... more.....
