Postal Workers try to Rally Support for H.R.1351

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Postal Service workers across the U.S. staged demonstrations Tuesday afternoon in support of H.R. 1351. According to advocacy group Save America's Postal Service, the bill 'addresses the financial crisis facing the Postal Service.' iReporter DaElmersBack documented the protest in Iron Mountain, Michigan. 'Some of the people seemed in good spirits, while other had looks of anger on their faces,' he said. 'Many had different expressions, but all had the same thought in mind: Will I lose my job?'
    - katie, CNN iReport producer

The American Postal Workers Union were out in force on US2 in Iron Mountain, Michigan on Tuesday evening.  They were protesting in front of the building local Congressman Dan  Benishek has an office in. It was not known whether Dan was in the  building at the time, but just in case these workers had their own chant  going so people could hear their concerns. Their main concern was  getting Dan Benishek to Vote to Pass H.R. 1351.

I was given a  brochure that talks about the 2006 congress bill that passed that  requires the Postal Service to pay a 75-year liability in just 10 years -  to "pre-fund" healthcare benefits for future retirees. This  congressional mandate costs the USPS more than $5 billion a year and it  is the cause of the Postal Service's financial crisis.
