Syria: al-Assad, The Devil We Know
Clinging desperately to power, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s inhumanity holds no bounds. Read the story regarding his atrocities against one family:
http://www.cnn.com/2011/09/26/world/meast/syria-mutilated-body/index.html
In other news, in the central town of Rastan, the scene of generally peaceful protests, violence has erupted. Seven soldiers and police officers, “pursuing terrorist groups” according to state-run media, were killed in clashes with anti-Assad forces. There are reports as well, of mass defections from the military to the rebels.
Hopefully the trend will continue until al-Assad is driven from power.
