The indignados try to occupy Schuman Square in Brussels

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     brotozaur shares these stills and video from Brussels, Belgium, as a protest march aligned with the Spanish 15M protests, overtook the downtown area. She says: 'Before the video, the protesters marched through Brussels and their end point was Schuman Square, where the Police blocked their access. [...] There was a stand-off between the protesters and the police for about 20 minutes, after which the policemen took off their helmets. The protesters went away when they saw they could not take over Schuman Square, where 2 main institutions of the European Union, the Council of the EU and the European Commission, are located.'

She adds, 'I think the most memorable moment was when the protesters were approaching the fence and the policemen were running around taking positions. You felt like something is going to happen. The protesters and the Police came face to face, with that wire fence separating them. And then there were the usual chanting and showing of the signs.'

Between 6000 and 10000 people marched today in Brussels, putting the capital of Europe on the map of the so-called global revolution.

The "indignados" marched through Brussels all afternoon, carrying signs that read "direct democratie" and "displeased by the global economic dictature".

The Belgian Police did not allow the protesters to take over Schuman Square, where two main European Union institutions are located.

The protesters chanted in French "the Police is with us" under the vigilatory eyes of the Police. They also asked the policemen to renegade their officials and join the movement, since they are also victims of the crisis.

After 20 minutes of protests in Schuman Square, the riot police took off their helmets and put on their regular caps. No clashes between protesters and Police were reported.
