Galapagos Islands: Natural treasures |
Galapagos Adventure
In August of 2011, my family and I visited the Galapagos Islands. For me, being a biologist, it was the trip of a lifetime. From the time we arrived it was fantastic. We took a one week Celebrity Cruise and enjoyed every minute. The rule for each excursion was "Leave only footprints, and take only memories". The naturalists are passionate about their National Park and very knowledgeable. The animals are not afraid and sometimes very curious. We snorkeled with penguins, sea turtles, and sea lions. We got to see the blue footed boobies up close, and even witnessed a mating dance or two. The islands are truly amazing and should be on everyone's bucket list. The local people were very friendly, and for those from the USA, the currency of choice is the American dollar which made purchasing anything very easy. I hope to get a chance to re-visit this amazing place. Advice for anyone who goes, bring plenty of memory space for your digital pictures, you will take alot of pictures.
