    Bangkok floods - Dogs' rescue

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Soi Dog USA Director Marcelo Cacciola says the ongoing operation to rescue Bangkok's abandoned animals from the floods is managed by several action teams. Because of the challenging terrain, communication is delayed, but based on the latest info the teams have rescued several hundred dogs since flood waters began to swamp Bangkok's outskirts.

Large scale evacuations of people are currently occurring in the worst affected areas of the Bangkok area.

People being evacuated are typically not allowed to take their pets and these dogs and cats as well asthousands of strays left behind need your help now.

Soi Dog Foundation is working with groups in the Bangkok area to rescue these animals. These groups are not large animal welfare agencies but rather smaller groups working around the clock to save the dogs and cats before it is to late.

Time is running out and they need help. All support will go towards rescue, veterinary care, shelter and rehoming for the dogs and cats.

They were also dogs abandoned to die during flooding at puppy mill in Bangkok. Fortuantely the rescue team were able to save them.

The dogs are now safe. but the number of dogs now being cared for is reaching crisis proportions and funds for their care are urgently needed.

Many small groups are working in Bangkok to help save animals affected by the floods. Time is running out for many of these animals and help is needed to save the  animals.

These groups are addressing an immense crises in Thonburi - 1000+ dogs put there for shelter are now drowning - many dead. Also doing what can be done to get dogs at Nichada and other areas where water is rising rapidly also.

Soi Dog Foundation is helping to raise funds for rescuers in Bangkok who need support desperately. If you can help please visit:

All funds raised go directly in aid of the animal victims of the floods.
