Soldiers in shoulder-deep flood water tackle Bangkok canal breach
Around fifty soldiers and workers of the Dept of Drainage and Sewerage shored up a sandbag wall on October 30th and 31st to prevent Phra Khanong canal continuing to flood Soi 50 of Bangkok's famous Sukhumvit Road.
This footage was taken at dusk on Sunday 30th against the dramatic backdrop of a white-roofed temple further along the canal.
The workers show great spirit and exuberance as they unload hundreds of sandbags from a barge and slide them down a ramp into shoulder-deep water where a human chain feeds them to the team of men assembling the dyke.
