Thailand floods: Share your story |
Floods approach Bangkok's Sukhumvit Road
A ten metre section of a dyke along Phra Khanong canal in Bangkok's central south-east area collapsed on October 30th sending water gushing into Sukhumvit Road, Soi 50.
A team of around 50 soldiers and Dept of Drainage & Sewerage workers fought hard to stop the leak by erecting a makeshift sandbag wall.
This footage shows how the flood affected residents of Soi 50 and local sub-sois. As usual in adverse circumstances, many Thais found a fun side to the flooded conditions.
Motorbikes, pigs, dogs, kids, cars, trucks, and foodcarts all made their way through the water... as others tried their best to deal with their flooded premises.
