Going on Hajj? |
Kaaba
- jmsaba, CNN iReport producer
We arrived in Mecca a few days ago and headed straight to the Kaaba. Here are some clips from the past couple days. The first is a view of the Kaaba from the roof of Masjid-al-Haram - the mosque surrounding the Kaaba. The next video is from the main floor where the Kaaba is located and the third is when my family and I were actually circumambulating the Kaaba. I was able to get close enough to touch the Kaaba, but in this video, we're still a few feet away. In all the videos, you can see people circumabulating the Kaaba, which when done 7 consecutive times is called a Tawaaf, a key component of various parts of the entire Hajj process.
As you can see in the videos, there are Muslims here from all over the world, some of whom have never even been outside their respective countries. Many different languages, cultures, and backgrounds are represented here, all united under a common faith.
