Former US Virgin Islands Senator verbally attacks protesters
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. Fomer Senator Norma Pickard Samuel verbally attacks protesters peacefully protesting the Water and Power Authority outside of the Legislature building. The US Virgin Islands has one of the highest, if not the highest costs per kwh in all the US and its territories. Due to high electric costs and unreliable power the Virgin Islands also has extremely high food and other essentials costs. Business closings are not uncommon due to high power costs and the added costs of providing backup generator power due to unrealiable and 'dirty' power. Frequent powwer outages 'damage electronics and appliances of both businesses and residents alike.
