    Salute to troops

    Husband and wife deploying together

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     armyheloman and his wife both serve in the U.S. military. He shared these photos and story about their relationship and career.
    - jmsaba, CNN iReport producer

I would like to give a salute to an excellent Soldier and mother, my wife Michelle. Currently we are both preparing to deploy, her first and my second, with the same Brigade shortly after thanksgiving to Afghanistan. Deploying in itself is difficult enough on a family but even more so during the holiday season. This will be the first time our boys, Jeffrey 12, John 5, and Jack 4, will experience having us gone longer than 30 days at the same time. But in all of this we have been very blessed. I have a wonderful mother-in-law who will be caring for our boys, I live in a very pro-military community that understands the challenges a family faces during times like these, and an excellent school prepared to give additional attention the boys may need during this time. I ask for all the viewers to please keep the military families in their thoughts and in their prayers during the holidays. Thank you.

The pictures of the boys are from this past summer up by Mount Rainer. The picture of the two of us in uniform is from her OCS graduation and commissioning.
