Ramen at our house: Ponyo Dinner!

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     narrah says she and her three children first did the 'Ponyo' movie and ramen combination a year and a half ago, when her husband was traveling. 'In the movie, the dad is also away from home and the little boy and the mom go through the adventure together.' They've repeated the ritual two more times, and her children -- ages 13, 11 and 9 -- always cry "Haaam!!!" when they see the dish.
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

We are ramen fans at our house - what else is quick, inexpensive , easy to customize and fun to eat?

We've had ramen several times for family night. One of our favorite movie/dinner combinations is the movie "Ponyo" and ramen served in the same style that the children enjoy in the movie. The meal consists of ham, vegetables such as edamame, baby corn and water chestnuts and a medium-boiled egg, sliced in half and arranged just as the meal appears in the movie. There is a captivating sequence in this lovely movie during which the mom prepares the ramen and, when it is ready, unveils it for the two amazed children. When Ponyo, the eponymous character, sees that the ramen includes her favorite human food, she shrieks "Haaaam!!!".

This delight is repeated each time we eat this meal, and the memories are just as warm and comforting and giggle-inducing as ramen itself.
