This iReport is part of an assignment:
Lou Dobbs' Independent Convention |
Health Insurance
Obama is the only candidate willing to really solve the health insurance problem. I am single, 56 years old and live in Manhattan. My health insurance premiums are $1,200 a month, $14,000 a year.
I have a PPO with Aetna. If I traded down to an HMO I would only save $200 a month.
In addition since the past 5 years insurance companies are raising premiums every year by 20%. That means that premiums are doubling every 4 years. If this continues in 4 years I will be paying $28,000 for my insurance. In 8 years $54,000 and by the time I can get Medicare at 65 my premiums are likely to reach $60,00 annually.
Something must be done. Individuals are paying much higher premiums than corporations that get Group discounts. That is outrageous.
Obama is proposing that everyone get the same benefits as those on Medicare or in Government at similar more affordable premiums.
McCain is offering "hot air." I will be voting for Obama though I think that McCain is better for Foreign policy.
As to the increase in capital gains with Obama, it is only limited to those earning over $250,000 annually which seems perfectly fair.
