Apple Remains "Mute" on iPhone 4S No Audio on Outgoing Calls Problem
Nearly two months after Apple debuted it's iPhone 4S, the flagship device is still plagued with paralyzing problems. Many users are complaining about no audio on 20% of outgoing calls where either they or the other party can not be heard during a call. A huge thread on the official Apple Support Community (https://discussions.apple.com/message/16424561#16424561) has swelled up to 1163 posts (nearly half of all the posts about the iPhone 4S) and the problem has a Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/iPhone4SOutgoingCallNoAudio)
Reading the posts on the official Apple Support Community there are stories of users who have had to replace their devices several times before getting a working device, stories of users who have had to travel hundreds of miles to the closest Apple Store, and stories of users who have had to ship their iPhone 4S to Apple at a cost of $30 each time also being left without a phone while Apple supplies a replacement. All this seems like a herculean effort to procure a device not much different than it's predecessor (in fact it has been shown that Siri can run on an iPhone 3GS.)
All the while, Apple remaining "mute" (pun intended) on the issue allowing the buying frenzy to proceed unencumbered and unconcerned about inconveniencing many users, many of which are business users requiring a phone that works well as a… phone. Contacting Apple Care or the Genius Bar at the Apple Store is equally as frustrating as Apple employees are instructed never to acknowledge the existence of any issue not officially recognized by Apple.
