    She Said Yes

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     UPHILLBATTLE proposed to his girlfriend earlier this month by decorating their home in Christmas lights. She loves Christmas lights and the holiday season, so 'there was really no other way for me to propose to her,' he said. The proposal in lights worked: She said yes.

'We were planning on going out to dinner for our anniversary – a seemingly small celebration. As we were walking out the back door of our home, she asked me to turn the holiday lights on. That's where she noticed the lights that I had strung on the back of the house. 'Oh, thanks for doing that,' she said. So I told her that I had put up some decorations on the front of the house. So, we walk around to the front of the house and she saw that I had put some candles in the windows, nothing big there. The 'Marry Me' message was not lit at this time. I had it attached to a remote so I could click it on at the right moment. Her reaction was simply shock. I took a knee and popped the question. She said yes, followed by 'oh my god' for the next 2 hours.'

I've been a homeowner for close to 3 years, but have never decorated the exterior of the home for the holidays. This year my girlfriend moved in and truly turned my house into a home. Along with her came her love of decorating for Christmas. Being our first endevour into decking out the house, we have just started out small with some lights on the front. However, I decided to surprise her with one extra string of lights on the roof. Needless to say, she was very pleased with this surprise!
