This iReport is part of an assignment:
Severe weather |
Tropical Storm Washi
During the night, the local paper had wind speeds of 65 km/h gusting to 85 km/h. Fortunately we were okay but many people were not so lucky. Many barangays (suburbs) were flooded, especially the ones near the river.
The power went out after midnight and the water shortly after.
We got electricity back at around 9am but the whole city has no running water and unlikely to have for the next few days. Hundreds of people are queuing up at water distributors and the local water district.
Our local parish church (Archdiocesan Shrine of the Holy Eucharist) has become a temporary sanctuary for 176 evacuees who used to live under one of the bridges here. The church is open to donations of cash or kind. Please pray for us here.
