Fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

America is known as the single most charitable country in the world. Private organizations and individuals raise funds to support research and care for individuals in need.

Locally, Team Whippersnapper, raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Team Whippersnapper is a group of family and friends that gathered together to raise money for the support and care of a young friend diagnosed with Leukemia in 2006 at the age of 8. Today, that young girl is in remission.

Team Whippersnapper hosts many fundraisers throughout the year in hopes of making a large donation at the annual "Light the Night Walk" held nationwide in honor of those afflicted with Leukemia and Lymphoma.

Recently, Team Whippersnapper hosted a fundraiser at O'Faolian's Restaurant and Bar in Sterling, Virginia. The event included entertainment by the band, 4ONTHEFLOOR, silent auctions, and 50/50 raffles.

The team was surprised by the presence of a special guest. While selling raffle tickets, members of the Team Whippersnapper unknowingly solicited Washington Redskin, Colt Brennan. Brennan was very generous and even agreed to draw the winning ticket at the end of the evening. Brennan stated that if his ticket was the winner he would donate all proceeds back to the cause. Indeed, Colt Brennan did pull one of his own tickets in the final drawing. As he recognized his own numbers on the winning ticket, he simply stated, "It was an act of God."

Team Whippersnapper raised $2,545 at O'Faolains that evening and considered the event to be a success.
