Dozens Arrested at Duarte Square on OWS Three-Month Anniversary

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     shameel shares with us these photos of a demonstration observing, among other things, the third month of the OWS movement. The demonstration and march took place on December 17, and began at Duarte Square near Canal St. Station. shameel comments: 'The main concern that OWS has these days is finding a space that they can call home. The protestors marched all over the city, from lower Manhattan to Times Square, and arrests were made in various locations.

Saturday, December 17, 2011, marked the three-month anniversary of Occupy Wall Street. It also coincided with the birthday of Bradley Manning and the one-year anniversary of the self-immolation of Mohamed Bouazizi, the Tunisian who set himself on fire and sparked the Arab Spring.

Hundreds gathered in Duarte Square, in lower Manhattan, for #D17, as the day is being called. At around 3:30pm, protestors marched around the block. When they got to an empty lot (apparently owned by Trinity Church), several dozen protestors climbed over the fence, using a ladder. Minutes later, some protestors and journalists climbed back out, barely escaping the NYPD who had begun to arrest everyone in the empty lot.

George Packard, a retired bishop, was among those arrested.
