    CNN Fit Nation: Triathlon Challenge

    Racing for the Ribbon

In 2008 my twin sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and I am happy to say that she is a 3 year survivor. After her chemo therapy ended the next year she asked if I would participate in the Breast Cancer Marathon held in Jacksonville, FL. I could not say NO! So I joined her relay team and had to run 5 miles. Although I am thin, I was never in shape. My twin was always the fit one! Now I was being asked to be the fit one and all of my elementary nightmares came flooding back (last at field day, pummled in dodge ball, bottom rung of the rope). Well I ran (walked) that 5 miles and I haven't stopped. So this year my quest is to do a triathlon and have donations for every mile I complete. I know that together we can beat breast cancer and become a healthier nation! Oh and did I mention I was 43 when I ran that 1st mile? Hey you are never to old to TRI!
