    Family in Kodachrome

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     kodakgal51 shares with us these photos from her 1950's childhood in Rochester, New York, and in her parents' vacation cottage in Port Elgin, Ontario, on the shores of Lake Huron. This iReport is in part also a tribute to her father, who worked at Kodak Park in Rochester, New York, for 35 years. She says: 'The love of photography and it's relevance to our lives has thrived in me, and I give credit to the many Kodak moments captured throughout my childhood and beyond. Now, as the "Keeper of the Family Photos" these times can live on, both in prints and Kodachrome slides in the boxes stored away in closets and under beds. Someday, they will be our daughter's to look through, and reflect on these treasured moments in our family's lives.'
    - elchueco, CNN iReport producer

As "Keeper of the Family Photos" I inherited a box of Kodachrome slides taken between 1950-1970, and the large majority were taken while on our family vacations. I spent the large part of a summer with a new scanner and went through all of them to save them on a computer and for posterity. The color tones cannot be equaled and the crispness and realism in the quality of the pictures gives them a brightness that gives each one a life all its own.
This is a selection from those photographs.
