    Is "Occupy" evolving?

The streets are quieter, less cluttered, but the protestors are still getting some media exposure because of what they are doing in the background. On Dec.30 2011, the Washington Post reported that the movement is taking root, primarily among students.

Are they evolving? Yet, only a few activists are aware of the need to use the power of vote. Protesting is not enough. Getting Verizon or Bank of America to drop unwarranted fees is good, but far from what should be done. Perhaps a proposal should be posted giving incentives to local banks and credit unions.
According to personal interviews with three activists in the Seattle area, they are reluctant to implement a systematic, nationwide method of collecting online votes. They seem to fear that the majority of Americans are going to vote against them.

By the way, I tried to interview quite a few of them, very unsuccessfully. As soon as my questions required detailed replies, they told me that the matter was ‘a General Assembly’ decision. It was like they had lost their individuality. In my mind I started to think ‘The Borg’ (from Star trek, The Next Generation.) But that was very unfair of me especially because I share their frustrations.

In Kitsap County (WA), a new idea has created an online platform that provides the means and the system to propose changes leading to the placement of Initiatives, Petitions, or even Amendments in the State and Federal Ballots. It is called Public-Voice.org, a not for profit organization where the members are the ultimate power in the system. It is a platform designed to house the hundreds, if not thousands of groups formed by liberal and conservative citizens alike.
The common objective is quite simple: propose a change and get enough legal signatures online to satisfy the requirement for inclusion of the Initiative or Petition into an Official Ballot. Maybe even an Amendment, requiring State elections for final approval.

I took a sampling within my community (mostly conservative folks) and from a few liberals. The survey determined that 100% of the people interviewed approved of the anti lobbyist legislation posted in Public Voice. See http://www.public-voice.org/component/kunena/67-united-states/11-anti-lobbyist-legislation?Itemid=0#16

Now, as a result of this person to person survey, several groups are rethinking their strategy and operations for 2012. Can you imagine the power of liberals and conservatives, despite party allegiance, voting for the same proposal?
