Russian human rights activist: "international community is making a serious mistake in dealing with Russia"

A Moscow human rights activist Sergei Kovalev told in an interview to Baltic news agency BNS during his visit to Lithuania about the situation in Russia in connection with the Russian Spring. He noted in particular:

"The whole international community is making a serious mistake in dealing with Russia. The mistake could be fatal. You should exert pressure on Russia, and not to make a fuss about it. I am not referring to military pressure. Politicians know how to exert pressure.

Being recently in France, I participated in a discussion. All my speeches failed there. I said: "You Europeans are constantly casting spells on universal values - human and civil rights, but do you observe them yourselves? I say no.

In late September, Putin already appointed himself as a new Russian president. In March, fraudulent elections will be held , and all the world leaders will congratulate Vladimir Putin.

I said: "Are not you ashamed to congratulate the person who has not won any elections, but appointed himself to this position? "A European raises and says: "This will be done according to the protocol". "That's the heart of the matter: a protocol is the highest universal value for you", I said. They were offended".
