This iReport is part of an assignment:
Are you a Dave Matthews fan? |
leroi, we will miss you
I consider myself one of the bands greatest fans. I remember the first time I heard the band on the radio, I was immediately drawn to the sound of the saxophone and I wondered who could be behind the sound because it literally spoke words. The sounds invoked sadness, fear, joy, awareness...depth. Immediately, I booked a ticket and I was amazed that the band was the most humbled, talented and grounded bands I had ever come witness play. Leroi, Dave, Boyd, Stephan, Carter are the most humble, talented, appreciative artists and people I have witnessed. Leroi always lurched in the corner with dark glasses painting the songs with deep, intoxicating sounds that were magical, heartfelt, deeply exhaled and drawn. I will miss him. No one did what he did. I always wondered why his work was never celebrated in the likes of the best saxaphonists in the world but I have come to realize that the best lurch in the shadows with dark glasses on painting music with intoxicating sounds in the humility of just having the opportunity to leave an impact on people like me that thank God for witnessing purity in its purest form. Leroi, WE WILL MISS YOU.
