Around five hundred people from the Occupy Wall Street movement gathered in Washington, DC on January 17, 2012 as part of an 'Occupy Congress' event. After several actions throughout the day aimed at garnering the attention of members of Congress, the protestors gathered at the Capitol and marched downtown. The march headed to the steps of the Supreme Court, where some of the protestors rushed past several police up the steps. After taking over the steps and speaking for a moment, they then headed to the White House where they rallied for a longer period of time. Protestors and police were largely peaceful and the event went off smoothly for both the authorities and the organizers. Two protestors throughout the day are thought to have had seizures while participating in the events.
